Basic Troubleshooting

  • Disconnect from any VPN Services if you are using them.
  • Power Cycle Your Home Network and PC/Console
    1. Turn off the router by unplugging it. If you have a modem and router in one device, turn it off and proceed to step 3.
    2. Turn off the DSL or cable modem for three minutes.
      • Note: Some modems are equipped with a backup battery. If your modem has one, please remove the backup battery to completely turn off your modem.
    3. Turn off all computers attached to your network.
    4. Turn on the DSL or cable modem first and let it boot. Let it complete its connection to your ISP before proceeding to the next step. If you have a modem and router in one device, proceed to step 6 after it connects to your ISP.
    5. Once the modem completes the connection to your ISP, plug in the router. Let it complete its power on test before proceeding to the next step
    6. Restart your computer or console. Make sure to fully power off your device, do not use quick restart or sleep mode.

    • While accessing your router, make sure to update the firmware as this may resolve connection issues. For more information on how to do this, see your router's instruction manual or manufacturer's website.
  • Flush your DNS, as this can speed up connections to our server.
  • Use Pathping and Tracert to test your connection to the ESO Servers.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Before proceeding, make sure to try all the steps above in Basic Troubleshooting. If those steps do not resolve Error 210, follow the steps below in order.
Step 1: Backup Launcher and Client Files

  1. Locate the following files on your computer and make copies of them. Keeping an archive of the files in their unmodified state may help with troubleshooting the issue. Make a copy of each of the following and place them in a folder on your desktop:

Step 2: Download the Patch Manifest File

In order to continue playing the Elder Scrolls Online you will have to have the latest patch, which is usually installed automatically.   2. Right click on the launcher iconand select Run as administrator.

  4. Re-open the ESO Launcher and try again.

  3. Locate and delete the ProgramData folder.
  4. Restart the ESO Launcher.
  5. The Launcher should now display 'Creating Download.' This is normal as the launcher begins the regeneration process. It can take anywhere between 21-30% before the launcher switches to 'Downloading Game Files.' Once this is complete, you should be able to play the game.

Step 5: Ensure you have the correct C++ Redistributable

  • You can ensure this by uninstalling and reinstalling 'vcredist_x64_2015.exe' and 'vcredist_x86_2015.exe' from the ESO Launcher directory or download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.

  2. Click Game Options.
  3. Click Repair.
  4. Wait for the process to finish.
  5. Restart the computer.
